Talking Green farming Question

Last night I was slapping the Yakslapper around with a 4 man team of Henchies, and after killing him he dropped both the Yakslapper and his staff. This is the first time I have ever had a double green drop off of anyone. My question is this a freak deal, or has anyone else had the same thing happen?

The Yakslapper is his staff. Maybe you mean the Yakslapper and his wand or focus dropped hmm? But as to your question, yes it is possible. I have seen multiple greens drop from the same boss for teh same person a few times. The most painful example was when Drago's Flabow and Drago's Vampiric Flatbow both dropped for the same person on sorrows run.

That's a matter of opinion...
For an Illusion mesmer Gorrel's stuff can be pretty good imo.
At least his 20/20 focus until they nerfed it

It's simple math:

Let's say the chance to drop the Yakslapper is 10% (rough estimate).
Let's say the chance to drop Wroth Holy Rod is also 10% (rough estimate).
This means the chance that he drops EITHER the Yakslapper OR the Rod is 20% (=0.1 + 0.1).
The chance that he drops BOTH the Yakslapper AND the Rod is 1% (=0.1 x 0.1).

Add the fact that you want with a team of 4 henchies, which cut your chances to 1/5th this means you chance for the double drop were 1% / 5 = 0.2%, that's 1 out of 500.

Let's summarize that you were quite lucky.

.... yeah so after the maths, yes he is lucky.
A friend of mine saw 2 xdragos flatbow for the same guy and then after 2 ragos flame staffs, he thought it was hacks.

And Gorrels cane and rock molder are very good for a migraine mesmer, as he doesnt focus on illusion mainly migraine, so the 10/10 all is better then 20/20 illusion ,

Illyanas staff is very good too 10/10 everything +30hp and 5energy.

I love that mesmer stuff is so cheap

I've done alot of Sorrows back in the day, occasionnaly bosses will drop all their greens, even rarer is the chance that someone gets all, although i've only seen alot get 2 of the 3 drops at most (usually the better 2 too )

I got a double drop from Jayne.

I got her Staff and Vera. Trick was to get her to heal frist, then attack me with her club.

The trick to what?

Drops are a simply a matter of frequency aka luck. You can increase the frequency of drops by 1) lowering the amount of players in your party, and 2) not over farming. (I have seen dbl green drops on plenty of occassions)

As for your theory of "That's why both vera and the staff dropped" I have killed bosses that exhibit no weapons or items, but upon killing them they drop every green item they could possibly have. The boss displaying an item or using it is inconsequential, at least in cantha. I know in Tyria the boss had to be weilding the green if you were going to have a chance of getting it (at least in SF). But apparently the design team for Factions thought differently...
